What a good day I have had. A really nice lunch with my son Patrick who has been looking after the Almeida Opera for the last goodness knows how many years. And my dear old colleague Anthony Whitworth Jones, who now is in charge of Garsington Opera showed up - a great treat. They have an interesting program in 2008. A rare Vivaldi (look at their website linked to above) - as well as a revival of John Cox's successful production of Cosi fan tutte. Of course John was responsible for the Cosi in Chicago at the Lyric last season. I assume it is much the same at lower prices in a bucolic setting. Sounds good!
Not to mention of course Stravinsky's Rake. We must do it too!
I am back in Chicago tomorrow evening to my great relief.
