What a nice day off I had in London yesterday. And one of the highlights was a visit to a part of London that I don't know very well although my eldest son now lives there. This is Highbury, the home of the celebrated Arsenal Football Club, that is say in US parlance Soccer. This area has come up in the world massively in the last 25 years. The residential architecture is very beautiful as you can see from this picture I took yesterday just by Highbury Fields where I met up with my family. As you can see this row of town houses is in fine condition and the area around Highbury Fields is full of similar examples, once going for a song but now no doubt for a veritably Wagnerian length opera!
Today has also so far been somewhat relaxed but Mozart calls this evening with the Magic Flute in Simon Callow's new production. The opera in Holland Park is in the open air and mercifully the weather is warm in London for once. More later.
