Or at least listen to a Beethoven String Quartet. It will take your mind off the nightmares of the world and get you to extend your attention span which has surely tanked in the last few weeks. Best to start off with Op. 130 - really long and requiring intense concentration. You will surely feel better when it is over and you will want to play it again - and again, and again.
I am reminded in a curious way today of 1956 and the impact that the cataclysmic events of that year had on us teenagers as Hungary was invaded and we had that insane expedition called Suez. We thought that the world as we knew it, in our innocence, was coming to an end. I wonder if teenagers of today will remember the events of this week so vividly 50 years from now. Well we shall all wait to see how things pan out - but it is somewhat alarming. And meanwhile we have to get an opera season on in April.
We have a short break from summer today. Appropriately enough it has been raining.
