So here I am just for a day in beautiful and beloved Italy. I arrived at my simple Hotel University mid morning and went for a nice walk before going out later for the auditions arranged for 4 pm. And of course the first thing I see is this mouth watering place. But I resisted going in.
Our People's Opera (the one our public pays to vote for!) next year you may remember is Mose in Egitto - and it is for this that I am getting some final casting done. Since I was in London anyway the short hop to Bologna in these days of ridiculously low air fares in Europe was a no-brainer. There are a couple of interesting prospects here - and a little Italian content in a Rossini opera is always a good thing.
I will probably grab a genuine Panini before the audition. Yum yum! There are lots of nice places in this bustling city of course............
