It is just three weeks today until we begin the longish haul of our short season. Meanwhile after a rather hectic time last week we have some calm again though there are undercurrents....!
Between now and then there is a lot of good stuff around town to keep us out of mischief. This coming weekend the CCPA will be producing Puccini's charming almost operetta La rondine with a good many COT young singers from our joint diploma program.
Coming up for the CSO is Charles Dutoit with Shostakovich 11, the St John Passion with Bernard Labadie, and Mitsuko Uchida with Mozart.
And the Art Institute opens its great Matisse exhibition. This is just a sampling of what is in store in the next three weeks.
Meanwhile Lyric keeps going with Figaro alternating with Damnation de Faust. This is actually all quite typical of any three week period in this city.
But this evening it is Music of the Baroque at the Harris - some great Handel.
