We have such a terrific group of capable professional people working for COT. They have been working their hearts out for the last three months - and so much of the time has been spent on the great party that we are having tomorrow evening. If you have not booked by now you have probably missed the boat. More fool you - it is going to be a humdinger!
They are now seeing the end of this and have earned for themselves great gratitude - and a day off!! Now this is the first they have heard about this - somehow an amusing way to convey the message! Anyway this is a "shout-out" for them!
I arrived at the office, as is somewhat normal, around 8.30. Having got off my bus once again I looked down the river at the pretty picture that is the Wrigley Building and the Tribune Tower. You may be getting bored of this by now - but the light is different every day and I thought it was particularly alluring at 8.20 this morning. Just me, just sayin'! (and click to enlarge!)
Otherwise today was a post mortem on the finance committee shenanigans of the week. We have a 2011 budget and that's the main thing. How we got there is another story for another day. My eventual memoirs perhaps which everyone is urging me to write. But hold on - I am still COT General Director - no time for such things just yet. And anyway - who is the highest bidder and how much?
Oh and speaking of bidding.....the auction tomorrow evening is one of the most remunerative features of a fund-raiser. We have some pretty funny lots on offer. I will do a full report, illustrated, on Sunday.
