I thought I would give myself a little rest, and unpack the bags. I now feel much refreshed and looking forward to the next three weeks in Chicago.
Wright's Opera House, Oury, CO - August 25 2010
Colorado is an important opera house state historically. We all know about Central City and the excellent opera company in Denver. We were delighted to come across Wright's Opera House in Oury last Wednesday as we were driving through from Durango to Denver. I was not aware of the huge number of "Opera Houses" that were built in Colorado in the 19th century. But the remarkable thing is the catalogue of singers of great fame who made the expedition to sing in Colorado. The website I have linked to above is quite fascinating........spend time with it, its really fun!
I am now off to enjoy the rest of Sunday.
