Millennium Park 5.30 pm November 29 2010
So the pre-Christmas season is well and truly on us. First we have the zoo lights, and this evening we did the skating (not me I hasten to tell you) at the excellent rink by the Park Grill in Millennium Park. This is all a service of the Chicago Park District, one of the excellent public services provided by the city - the best possible justification for the place of much maligned "government" in an orderly civilised city such as this.
Meanwhile in the office we plough on selling tickets, cultivating our supporters around the community, and putting the last pieces into place for the Spring 2011 season. We have a nice event coming up next week at the Newberry Library which brings our "family" together for a pre-holiday celebration. We have some work to do on our 2012 and 2013 budgets before we can get going on those two seasons in earnest; we are looking forward to the Lyric's Mikado, dress rehearsal this coming Friday. And I have another east coast trip next week, to Philadelphia and Washington, the final out of town auditions for this year. So it is a varied diet of activity.
As our friends in Britain and Europe are complaining about snow and horrible low temperatures, we just have general wetness - pretty average really!
