The destination of the boat trip on Sunday was the Old Royal Naval College (seen above) at Greenwich - a splendid place for a day out and now that the Thames Clipper service is so excellent it is easy to get to. No traffic! But it is a really scenic route - Tower Bridge for example..........
I am having a really relaxing few days, in London and in Paris where I arrived yesterday - really relieved to be quietly enjoying other things. But I will be back in Chicago on Wednesday next week.
The beauties of Paris are legendary - I have spent many many weeks there over the last decades. We can never tire of this wonderful place. I am fortunate to staying on the Place de la Concorde. Just the perfect location. And below is the view from just outside my hotel.
And of course the delights of the museums as well as the restaurants are irresistible. If any of my readers are in Paris in the coming weeks you MUST go to the Jeu de Paume for the remarkable exhibition/retrospective of the South African photographer Santu Mofokeng - a complete revelation of the work of an artist and a poet philosopher, and a man of extraordinary sensibility and sensitivity. This is a natural for the Art Institute - really the most moving photo show that I have seen in years.
And of course a walk along the Seine, across the Pont Neuf, the oldest bridge in Paris (seen below), to the Ile de la Cité and a delightful restaurant, Le Caveau du Palais, was a good way to round up the day. Another top recommendation.
