Well I am back on line at last - but it really is the most ridiculously time consuming process. Nevertheless I am grateful to the extremely competent Peruvian gentleman from Comcast who made it happen. He was totally in charge of the situation - a model modern technical man - no fuss, just did it!
So after a morning in the office from 8:30 I spent the afternoon at home getting this sorted out, and then was back for our Marketing Committee meeting at 5:30, chaired as always by the infinitely wise Henry Fogel, one of the many board members who bless us with their generosity and the benefit of their experience.
I think that we are all pretty alarmed by marketing issues in the performing arts at present. There is less disposable income for the majority of arts lovers. People are having to make ever larger sacrifices to enjoy and support the exceptional work of arts organisations around the country. Tough times indeed......but we will win through!
Meanwhile we are looking forward to welcoming back the CSO to Chicago in September. They are currently on tour playing to sold out houses in Europe. Berlin tonight and tomorrow, Paris on Friday, and Dresden on Saturday. Then on to Vienna! And the Lyric season opens with The Tales of Hoffmann on October 1.
But the greatest excitement of the season will be COT's pairing of rare Handel and Shostakovich - not to be missed by serious opera and music lovers. So book now!
