Paul Scholten (Baburov) and company
It is remarkable what the team has achieved over the last 24 hours. I was down at the rehearsal in the Fine Arts Building this afternoon and after the break in the rehearsal they decided to do a run of the work to date - this amounted to no less than the first 35 minutes of Act 1. This is pretty amazing......the production is already taking wonderful shape afte just five three hour rehearsals. That is pretty productive.
I will keep a rolling report on all these excitements over the next few days. Then Handel begins next week. It will be hard to keep up. I should get the photo sites up for both productions over the weekend so all you company members can check in to see yourselves! (P.S. the more observant amongst you will have noticed that there is already a link to the Moscow pix in the bar at the top of the page!)
We have a three session day tomorrow - but I will be taking the evening off to have dinner with Jane Glover and Harry Bicket - such a pleasure to have these two fine English musicians in town together. Harry of course is in charge of Rinaldo at Lyric, and Jane is doing the wonderful Handel L’Allegro, il penseroso ed il moderato with Music of the Baroque at the Harris on Monday.
