Well they did eventually - the scoreboard above was at the beginning of the game on this hot sunny day with a crowd of 37,000 cheering on the lovable Cubs. They are not one of major league baseball's most successful teams this year, but they won three in a row this weekend against Arizona and are on something of a roll. And I was delighted - I think I bring them bad luck as I think that this is the first time I have actually been present at a winning game!
The Cubs winning picher was Matt Garza (above) and Darwin Barney (below) hit a 2nd inning two run Home Run.
If you know and care little about baseball you probably have no idea what I am talking about. But believe me it is an essential part of American culture. I was glad to learn about it during my years in Toronto and have been a supporter of the Cubs since I came to Chicago. That is no doubt cultural as well - you either support the White Sox or the Cubs. There is no room for indifference!
