There was a massive storm over Castleton and much of Virginia on Friday evening. There is limited power here (there are some generators providing for the basics). There is no internet or phone service, and this is another AT and T blank spot with zero to very weak indeed cellphone reception.
It is rather nice being cut off from the rest of the world. But actually the inconvenience here is massive. The performance of Barbiere was abandoned after the intermission on Friday and the opening of Carmen last night was rescheduled to Wednesday. There is a massive generator that arrived last night which should provide enough power for the performance of Barbiere this afternoon.
Everyone is handling the situation brilliantly. And if this posting actually appears you will know that I have found an internet connection somewhere!
I hope that there will be more from here in a day or two and I apologize for this hiatus!

Thank you so much for this posting. Our son is working at the Castleton Festival and we haven't heard anything from him. This is what we figured was going on after hearing the terrible weather reports. We are so very sorry to hear about all the crazy rescheduling. It will be a season to remember in many ways.
Hope you are able to stay cool.
Thanks from Michigan....it's even hot here!

The power seems to be back as of two hours ago. I hope you hear from him!
