This nonsense with my phone has a silver lining. I got a new iPhone 4s from the local Orange store (Orange being my service provider going back to my first mobile phone in 1997 - nothing if not loyal!). And it has the old opeating system on it which means I have my most used App back - Google maps! As some of you may know, the otherwise perfect Apple Corporation made a humungous blooper with the new OS for the iPhone. All because of some petty childish squabble in the playground between Google and Apple. All rather pathetic stuff - but with the irritating consequence for those of us who actually use these things, a perfect nightmare.
Earls Court Station, for example, is a mile away from Apple's indicated location......what idiots there are, evidently, in Cupertino, CA. Enough.........!
It is now five weeks since I left Chicago after 13 wonderful years there. I have been thinking about doing a gradual retrospective over the coming months. It was a great journey and I want to extract the best memories and share them with you - those who are interested. Many of you are too young (!) to remember back 13 years to COT in 1999. So I will take this opportunity to enlighten you. This will start next week. Can I keep it up? We shall see - it will be in 13 weekly instalments. That is three months!
Meanwhile tomorrow I am looking forward to reconnecting with two extremely able colleagues with whom I have worked for years - Stefania Almansi of IMG Artists and Julia Maynard of Intermusica. We will have a merry lunch.
