Paris Opera 12:45 pm October 2 2012
I had a nice day today wandering around the "city of light". I have spent so much time here over the last 50 years - but one can never tire of this city and one never fails to discover new miracles. This afternoon I spent some time wandering around the two Iles - de la Cité and St Louis.
The Conciergerie from the Pont Neuf
And I then made it to a preview of a fascinating van Gogh and Hiroshige double show at the Pinacotèque.
Hiroshige is a revelation - and of particular interest to me given my connection with Neue Stimmen in Yokosuka, Japan. And the purported influence of Hiroshige on Van Gogh is amply demonstrated in this double exhibition supported by two Dutch institutions - the Musem of Ethnology in Leiden - and the amazing unknown Kröller-Müller museum in Otterloo! This latter place has an astonishing collection of van Gogh.
If you are in Paris between now and March 17 go there. It is in Place de la Madeleine - and next to Fauchon!
