Yes, my hair keeps growing so I have to have it cut. I have been going to my favourite barber in Chicago, Truefitt and Hill, for the last 13 years. And of course it was founded in London so I visited them in November here in St James's Street. But it costs!
But now I have found a delightful place under my very nose - here in Parsons Green. It is actually 45 feet directly below me in the same block as my apartment. And run by a couple of delightful Neopolitans. So I can even practice my Italian - which I did to their great pleasure........
And it is, curiously, called Stage. They do not have a website - they are a real start up business. But they are both expert and charming. The best bit is the back and head massage - and the very small bill at the end after suberb service. They will be seeing me on a regular basis.
And why did I get a haircut today? Well I have to look respectable for the Royal Opera House tomorrow. I am going to the opening night of the revival of Harry Birtwistle's The Minotaur which I missed first time round. This will I believe be a gory and thrilling piece of music theatre.
