In addition to wonderful houses in Somerset, as all over England, there are extraordinary gardens. Just such a one is Stourhead - which actually is just over the border in Wiltshire but an easy 30 minute drive from Wells. The weather has turned out to be beautifully sunny though the coldest Easter for many years. But the great British public turned out in force to enjoy sunshine for the first time for many months. But one could still get lost away from the crowds in this beautiful place.
This morning in Wells Cathedral there was a spectacular joyful Easter service at 9:30 - a packed house was there to enjoy the Bishop of Taunton's engaging and optimistic sermon, wonderful singing from the Cathedral Choir including the superb choristers from the Cathedral School.
Tomorrow will be an Easter Egg hunt for two of my grandsons and their many mates - and I will then return to London together with countless others from the South West after the Easter weekend. It will be a nightmare no doubt!
