I am well and truly glad to be home in London after a really tough six months. However the last week has been a wonderful climax to the Neue Stimmen project. And I am already looking forward to the next one in 2015!
It is for the many young lives that have taken part this year to say how they have been affected by it. But I feel proud to have been involved in something in which I believe in so strongly - this bringing together of so many gifted young people from all over our world to share the pursuit of musical excellence, and through that make a small but significant contribution to international understanding. It may be that lifelong friendships have been made during this last week. Artists matter and make a difference - maybe the politicians will eventually get it!
I am now back to my varied life in London. I will be seeing my old friend Christopher Hunt for lunch tomorrow - bringing him greetings from a good many of our mutual friends encountered in Gütersloh. Then to the Garrick tomorrow evening for more catch up with lifelong colleagues. And so on - Halloween is around the corner and Christmas will be here in no time!
Stay with me - I have some fun things coming up.
