I am tidying up this week before being off on the road again tomorrow - first to Detroit for the Met auditions, then over to London on Sunday evening, to Vienna on Tuesday and Guetersloh on Friday next week. There is a nice birds eye view of Guetersloh on my posting of three days ago. So just scroll down from here!
On Tuesday in Vienna I will be at the world premiere of John Adams' new opera A Flowering Tree. A new Adams opera is a big event - more on that next week so watch this space. And then off to Germany for the Neue Stimmen masterclasses which take place in the "off year" between competitions.
Meanwhile this morning we had our regular and bi-monthly meeting of the users group of the Harris Theater - a terrific opportunity to make a contribution to the growth of the Harris. There have been exciting developments there in recent months with many improvements in the pipeline to make the audience's experience more enjoyable. There are new bars, new ownership of the car parks, some excellent new and colorful decoration of the foyers, and in the coming months the profile of the theater will continue to grow. The recent massively successful visit of the NY City Ballet in October has further put the Harrris on the map and there is a splendid announcement due tomorrow. I can not break the embargo! Hats off to Managing Director Michael Tiknis and his team.......
