There is a really nice small exhibition at Tate Britain - the original Tate Gallery on Millbank. This is Painting Now: Five Contemporary Artists. There are just five rooms and five totally different painters in the 30-50 age range. I fell in love with the work of Tomma Abts, the Turner Prize winner in 2006.
These are paintings I would buy and love to live with, if I could! They are small - just right for me! You can not possibly understand the quality of the painting, its technical perfection, its texture, its depth, from the photo. So go to the exhibition - it is on just until February 9 - and you may see what I mean.
And I enjoyed the trompe-l’œils of Lucy McKenzie. Fascinating yes, loveable?
